OverviewTerena Wong, based in Hong Kong, is an artist involved in street art and social artistic practices, in addition to her personal creations. Her background is rich in human connection and interaction. On her journey to becoming a community-based artist, she has participated in over 80 community art projects, street artworks, 3D mural paintings, and 3D floor paintings across Hong Kong, the USA, and China. For the past seven years, she has continuously created, benefiting from the support of various organizations, including government bodies and non-profits. Notable experiences include participating in the 46th International Street Painting Competition in Italy and collaborating with 3D street artists in the United States. These opportunities have reinforced her commitment to art and fostered meaningful exchanges with international street artists. During her academic journey, she received the President’s Commendation in Arts and Culture from EdUHK. She was awarded a scholarship to pursue a Master’s in Fine Arts Practice at the Glasgow School of Art. Now she is currently studying her doctoral degree in creative arts education. Artist Statement Her inner psyche is the essential inspiration for her creative practices. She believes art is a powerful trigger that effectively connects people. Art is a sense of everything. It connects our personal well-being, spiritual self, physical self, social self, and deeper part of ourselves. Her work explores interpersonal connections and self-discovery. Focusing on the engagement process, she employs painting, installation, photography, and mixed media to reflect her emotional ties to subjects and individuals, often awakening the audience's emotions through her art. She is currently studying for her doctoral degree, focusing on community art education, and she aspires to deepen her understanding of its development and human connections. She keeps creating her artistic practices and hope one day she can involve others to paint with her artwork, likes Sol LeWitt. |
